‘Ask your hands to know the things they hold’

Teacher Talk - in words and images

During the first lockdown in Belgium due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we asked four teachers about how they perceived their teachership from a far, being forced to stay out of their classrooms and into their own homes. The result? Four beautiful stories, in which teachers talk about their profession in an entirely other kind of language than the predominantly used language of measurability and evidence-based expertise. We worked on this project using the arts-based research method of a/r/tography and translated their stories into four drawn portraits. Each in their own way, they provide a unique insight in what education is all about.
